The Pantoja Family
Fields For Hope Family Stories
Meet the Pantoja Family
In early February, Angie was diagnosed with necrotizing fasciitis, a rare and aggressive bacterial infection that rapidly destroys tissue beneath the skin.
Against overwhelming odds, she spent 87 days hospitalized, including 60 days in the ICU and more than 20 surgeries. Through the extraordinary care of the medical team at the University of Chicago and her unwavering determination, Angie overcame what many thought was impossible. While the infection was ultimately defeated, it left behind extensive damage and a long road to recovery.
One of Angie’s greatest goals was to return home, and in late April she achieved that milestone. Tragically, just a few weeks later, Angie experienced unforeseen complications and passed away on May 22, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Angie was a devoted wife, mother, sister, daughter, Tia, and friend whose strength, resilience, and love touched countless lives. Many throughout the Lincoln-Way community knew her affectionately as “The Taco Lady.” Alongside her husband, known by many as “The Taco Man,” Angie helped build a successful catering business that brought people together at countless parties, celebrations, and community events throughout the area. Through her warm smile, amazing hugs, and generous spirit, she created lasting memories and meaningful connections with everyone she met.
